ADI Systems Inc. is a treatment technology and turnkey solutions provider for the industrial wastewater marketplace and can offer a number of solutions for the biofuels production industry--from treatment to water reuse. ADI Systems has a great deal of experience treating wastewater from biodiesel, fuel ethanol, and similar industries (high-fructose corn syrup production, corn wet-milling, alcohol production, distillery, and brewery) and has installed numerous systems worldwide.
ADI offers a number of technologies that can provide different solutions for biofuels plants.
- High-strength wastewater treatment: A variety of anaerobic technologies are offered that are designed to easily treat the high-strength waste often generated during biodiesel production. These technologies include high-rate systems, low-rate systems, and anaerobic membrane bioreactors (AnMBRs) which are often used for pretreatment prior to polishing in an aerobic process or for the generation of renewable biogas energy from wastewater.
- Water Reuse/Recycle: A variety of aerobic technologies are offered that can be used to polish the anaerobic effluent to a quality suitable for disposal or reuse, or can be used as stand-alone treatment. ADI’s membrane bioreactor (MBR) system, the ADI-MBR, is based on the world's leading MBR technology and can produce reuse-quality water within an easy-to-operate, small-footprint package. The effluent is suitable for a variety of uses, from irrigation to cooling towers, as well as to provide ultra-high-quality feed water to a reverse osmosis (RO) system.
- Waste Solids Digestion: Also offered are systems for the handling and digestion of stillage, manure, or a combination of both, and waste glycerin from biodiesel plants which incorporate energy recovery in the form of biogas. The energy recovered is often a significant portion of the plant energy needs and, in some cases, equal to the entire plant energy requirement.
- Energy Recovery: Finally, complete energy recovery systems that can reduce natural gas and electrical power consumption at biofuels facilities, including boilers, microturbines, and electrical generators are provided.
ADI Systems is also proud to be able to offer, through an exclusive agreement, Phoenix Bio-Systems’ Bio-Methanator high-rate anaerobic treatment technology. With nearly a hundred installations operating or under construction, Phoenix Bio-Systems’ Bio-Methanator technology is the "standard" wastewater treatment technology for the fuel ethanol industry. Its modular construction and ease of operation provide an easy-to-construct, reliable process for the pretreatment and reuse of a wide variety of wastewaters.
ADI technologies are offered on a technology-package or design-build basis and include extensive start-up, commissioning, training, and aftercare support to ensure optimal performance.
